It´s vital Hull keep control of their fate

We let ourselves and the club down with our performance against Middlesbrough a couple of games back. We gave away three sloppy goals and they won the game without really having to work for it.

In the week leading up to the Sunderland game we worked very hard to improve. We were determined not to put in another lacklustre performance. I think we were worth a point. We did very well but again we were on the end of a rough decision. Sunderland scored right before half-time. That is always a difficult time to concede a goal but Djibril Cisse was clearly offside so that makes it worse.

The unlucky decisions seem to be mounting up at the minute but hopefully our bad breaks will even out by the end of the season. That said there isn´t long left. We played well in the second half and pushed for an equaliser but unfortunately it just wasn´t our day.

It’s Liverpool this weekend. I think all the players probably saw their 4-4 draw with Arsenal. It was a great game with plenty of goals but we already know about the players Liverpool have and what they´re capable of so it didn’t tell us much we don´t know.

Though Liverpool played that game during the week while we had a rest I don´t think it will make much difference because they’re so used to playing a lot of games. Most of the season they´re playing massive Champions League matches midweek then Premier League games on Saturday so I reckon they´ll be ready. They certainly have the squad to deal with a busy fixture list.
Torres was superb against Arsenal. He´s scoring goals for fun at the minute – different types of goals as well.
Liverpool are a great side, pushing for the League title, but we know what´s needed to get something from the game and we know we´re capable of doing it. We made a big improvement between the Boro and Sunderland games and now we need to make another one before we face Liverpool.

It was a great achievement for us to get a point at Anfield back in December, especially as we went two goals up. At the time we took a lot of positives from the game and it gave us plenty of confidence but that’s all. A lot of the players we faced at Anfield may not feature at the KC Stadium and some who weren´t involved in the first game will probably play on Saturday, Fernando Torres being the main one.

Torres was superb against Arsenal. He´s scoring goals for fun at the minute – different types of goals as well. He scored a fantastic header in the Arsenal game, which is something people may not expect of him. But you should look forward to these challenges, it´s a chance for me to test myself against a great player so I´m looking forward to it, as the rest of the Hull defence will be.

It´s not just Torres we need to watch out for. As a team Liverpool have scored a lot of goals recently and a lot of late goals too. We´re going to have to be on our game and completely concentrated right until the last minute on Saturday. But you should look forward to these challenges, it´s a chance for me to test myself against a great player so I´m looking forward to it, as the rest of the Hull defence will be.

Premiership survival is in our hands, It´s vital we keep it that way. We´re three points ahead of Middlesbrough at the minute but teams in and around us will win and lose games they´re not expected to before the end of the season so we just have to concentrate on our own form and results. If we do that I´m confident we can stay up.
