Run-in will test Hull´s squad depth

The win at Fulham was massive, a huge result
What a massive win at Fulham. It´s as if a weight has been lifted off the club. We´ve always been confident that we can win games but not winning since December takes its toll. We showed against Fulham that we can fight for the points even if we´re not playing too great.

Fulham had a lot of the possession and were putting a lot of pressure on us in the second half. But having said that we´ve played really well in some games this season and come away with nothing. Against Fulham, the way the game turned out we might have been happy with a point. Although they didn´t create a huge number of chances, they certainly had the better ones. But we defended as a team and got our reward.

Manucho got the goal and as soon as he came on he made an impact. He showed some good touches and put their defence under pressure. It was Richard Garcia, another sub, who created the goal with a great cross from the left. We´ve got a decent squad and we´re going to need them all in the run-in. Barms [Nick Barmby] is another one who´s come back into the side in the last few games and that just shows everyone wants to be a part of our season. He´s had a few niggles but has come back strong and got his chance in the side. We need players like him if we´re going to stay up this year.
We have struggled a little against sides below us in the table this year so that´s something we need to look at
We were all in training on Thursday then we´ve got a few days off to recover before the big game with Newcastle a week on Saturday. I had a bit of a dead leg after the Blackburn game and it swelled up a lot in the days afterwards so I was a doubt for Fulham. It was from a challenge with Paul Robinson, the Rovers keeper. The ball was there to be won and we´ve both hit each other quite hard. I think he came off slightly the worse but there were no hard feelings.

I didn´t train because of the injury until the day before the Fulham game. It had gone down a bit by then and I was desperate to play so I got the all-clear. It should be good to have a bit of time off now. All the lads will go away and do their own thing for a bit and then come back focussed for a really important set of games.

We play a lot of the other relegation-battlers between now and the end of the season but it shouldn´t really matter who you play in the run-in. Everyone has to play each other twice and that´s the way you have to think about it rather than in terms of having a better or worse run-in. Having said that, we have struggled a little against sides below us in the table this year so that´s something we need to look at.

Newcastle are down there scrapping with everyone else and although I didn´t see it I heard they put in a really spirited performance against Manchester United so it will be a tough game. But if we were to get three points it would be a massive step towards safety. We´re five points clear of the drop zone at the moment and another win would make things a lot more comfortable for us. There´s still a lot of football to be played though so we´re not getting ahead of ourselves.
