Hull must turn performances into points

I dedicated my goal against Spurs to my fiancée Joanne
After last night´s defeat to Spurs it´s now ten games without a win for Hull. That stretches back before Christmas and I think it does get harder to win the longer a run like this goes on. Having said that, we have to take heart from our performances. We played well against Spurs last night and in the game before that we got a draw at Stamford Bridge. We just need to keep performing that way and the win will come.

In the first half against Tottenham our game-plan worked really well. Even though we gave away what was, from our point of view, a poor goal - we got back into the game quickly with an equaliser and could have scored again before half-time. Spurs came out and worked harder in the second half and made life difficult for us. The game looked set for a draw but it wasn´t to be and it was frustrating to concede such a late winner.

The week before we´d gone to Dubai for a mid-season break, as we did last season, so we were hoping for that to have an immediate impact on our league results. Last year it stood us in good stead for the run-in and hopefully the same will be true this year. A break gives the players a chance to relax and get their heads together before the remaining games.
The best way for us to repay the fans´ support is to make sure they´re watching top flight football again next season
On a positive note it was nice to get on the scoresheet, but it´s hard to be too happy about it when you´ve come out of the game with nothing. It´s four league goals now and five for the season. I´m going to be pushing for more to help the side out. The reason I mention it is because I´ve been asked me about my celebration - I pointed into the crowd after scoring. I was actually pointing to my fiancée Joanne and dedicating the goal to her. She goes to all the home games and a fair few of the away one too so she´s a big Hull fan! She´s been a great support to me so it was just to say thanks really.

The fans were terrific again on Monday. They´ve never let their heads drop on the difficult run that we´ve been having and are always in full voice. It´s a thrill for the players and the fans that Hull are playing in the Premier League and the best way for us to repay that support is to make sure they´re watching top flight football again next season.

We´ve not had the best of luck with injuries this season and Jimmy Bullard being ruled out for the rest of the season is a massive blow. Everyone at the club was excited by the prospect of having him in the team but that´s not going to happen this season and we need to deal with it. On the other hand it´s a big boost to have Tony Gardner back in the squad again. Hopefully he can stay fit and if he does he´ll be a big asset for us. Since he´s come back we´ve pushed Kamil Zayatte further forward into midfield. It worked well against Spurs and on the whole we looked pretty solid against their attackers.
